A “cat revolution” may sound bad if you’re a dog, but if you’re a veterinarian working in animal shelters, it’s a goal to strive towards. This catvolution is The Million Cat Challenge. Animal shelters around the country will actively participate in a campaign to save the lives of 1 million cats by not euthanizing healthy cats.
The approach is multifaceted and includes ideas like removing adoption fees and releasing healthy cats after they’ve been immunized and sterilized. Pet expert Gina Spadafori and the one of the vets behind the challenge, Dr. Kate Hurley, director of the UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program, join Insight to talk about it in this week’s Pet Tales.
